Download & install

On Mac, unzip the download or open the disk image, then move Zap Pro to Applications. On Windows, follow the installer.

Sign in to Zap

Open Zap and sign in with the same email and password you used on the website. Your active subscription connects automatically. Open your account ↗

Make it yours

Review permissions, select your Claude model, and set up your preferred shortcuts.

On Mac, Alt means Option (⌥), and CmdOrCtrl means Command (⌘). On Windows, use Alt and Ctrl. Saved custom shortcuts can override these defaults; check Settings → Hotkeys.

Instant Answer captures the full screen and sends it to AI. There is no active default Alt+8 binding.

Inside the overlay

Tab toggles text-question entry. Enter submits a typed question. Command+C / Ctrl+C copies the displayed response. Escape closes the current panel or text entry first, then the overlay.

Closing is simple

Use the overlay shortcut or Escape to close Zap’s overlay. Self-Destruct requires two presses within three seconds. It deletes local app data and the app itself; it does not cancel your Stripe subscription.

Control+Alt+Shift+Backspace also triggers the same double-press Self-Destruct action.
